Jared

Jared is a 2 and a half year old cutie-pie who lives in Baldwinsville with his mom, dad, older sister Jenna and great dane Bailey. He loves to look at books, play musical instruments and jump on the trampoline.

Jared was diagnosed with autism at 20 months. When he wasn’t talking at about 18-20 months his pediatrician recommended an evaluation with DEC in Syracuse. The diagnosis was infantile autism.

Jared’s parents started reading everything about autism treatments that they could get their hands on. Because there is no known cause or cure for it the future didn’t look good. Jared immediately started the gfcf diet (gluten free/casein free), ABA (applied behavioral analysis) therapy and has been taking various vitamin supplements like Vitamin B and magnesium which were recommended by a DAN! (Defeat Autism Now!) doctor in Massachusetts, all of which have improved his life greatly. He’s starting to communicate now, his first real word was “calculator!”

Jared’s parents have great hopes for him now, his future is looking brighter because of all the therapies that they’ve found. These are therapies that Jared’s pediatrician never recommended his parents had to find them on their own.

Jared’s parents belong to a support group called FEAT of NNY (Families for Early Autism Treatment) which provides great support. It helps them so much to talk with other parents who are going through the same thing
