Here is cutie-pie Andrew. His mom wrote us with his story.
"Andrew Nicholas turned 4 years old on April 17. He always had some
physical weakness since birth, but passed all his health check ups. At age 2 1/2,
we brought him to our doctor, because his language skills were slipping more
and more behind. He did not talk as much as children his age, or even as much
as children younger than him. He started speech therapy, and after several
months, Andrew was diagnosed with autism.
The diagnosis was made when he was 3 1/2 years old. Andrew's story is still a work in progress. He has started
a more intense teaching method called ABA, and has made important gains in
just the last month.
In his free time, Andrew likes to play with Thomas the
Train, watch videos, and his newest game, run up Mom and yell "Surprise!"
We would like to share our story with other families, hoping that in the future
children like Andrew can be diagnosed much earlier in life, and start therapies
earlier in life. Our biggest hope is that some day autism can be prevented or
cured, enabling every child like Andrew to make all their life's goals and
dreams come true."
